Indigenous peoples in North America are continuing the long struggle of survival and resistance against ongoing colonization of their lands, nations and lives. In the face of strong Indigenous resistance in the realms of culture, spirituality, and law and politics, Settler society has recently declared that we are now in an era of reconciliation. But Indigenous peoples are finding that reconciliation does not provide justice for the theft of their lands and the atrocities of colonialism. Indigenous Resurgence is a new framing of an ancient struggle, focusing on ideas and actions to reconstitute what it mean to be Indigenous, guided ancestral knowledge and organic principles from within Indigenous cultures. Indigenous Resurgence radically re-imagines the relationship between the Original People and Settler Society and through art, literature, cultural practice, language revitalization and political engagement seeks to change the terms of our existence on the Earth and in relation to each other.
